About Stacie
Stacie Dooreck, SunLight Yoga’s owner and yoga instructor
Stacie's yoga journey started at birth, raised vegetarian and taken to yoga ashrams. She began hatha yoga while in high school to relieve neck pain and continued to practice daily seeing benefits immediately on many levels. In college she became a Sivananda International Certified Yoga Instructor (1995) while getting her B.A. in Religious Studies. She then trained at the Advanced Studies Program at the Iyengar Institute of SF (2000), completed teacher trainings with Rodney Yee, Yoga Journal and High Desert Yoga, Gentle Yoga Certification from Integral Yoga Institute of San Francisco (2007) and Certified in the Khalsa Way, prenatal yoga in the Kundalini tradition as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Stacie is currently in a year long teacher training at the Kundalini Yoga Center of San Francisco as well.
As a child Stacie was taken several times to meet Muktananda (Siddha yoga master) and was blessed to meet Swami Sachidananda once her own practice began. In the last few years Stacie has been fortunate enough to study directly with BKS Iyengar, Sri K Pattabhi Jois, Sri Dharma Mittra, TKV and Menaka Desikachar, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa and many other yoga masters.
Implementing yoga programs and teaching for health clubs, non profits, hospitals, universities, corporations and yoga studios in Albuquerque, NYC and San Francisco, Stacie brings a diverse background to her teaching methods. The whole lifestyle of yoga is emphasized: proper exercise, proper diet, relaxation, devotion and meditation, although those seeking yoga for any one or more reasons will benefit.
Stacie is currently teaching at Adobe headquarters (starts Jan. 2010!), Digi Designs, Bay Club, Sports Club/LA, Lucasfilm Ltd., Carlisle Senior Home, prenatal yoga at the Presidio YMCA and is a substitute instructor for Yoga Tree, the Metropolitan Club, the Integral and Sivananda Yoga Centers of SF.
Recent classes taught include: Windchime Marin for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, SF prenatal homeless yoga program, prenatal yoga at the Parents Center, and for the addiction recovery program at Marin Services for Women.
Stacie continues to study with the world's leading yoga masters, bringing SunLight Yoga to the bay area, focusing on classes and workshops for corporations, prenatal yoga and gentle yoga for those healing from chronic illness.
May the light of yoga shine in everyone and show us our true nature.
